Things I will miss:
The quick, cheap, easy, and refreshing availability of ready to eat, spicy, juicy meals.
The feel of a humid breeze on my skin, particularly in the evening.
The cleansing, drenching afternoon rain.
The sense of friendly community and collaboration among groups here - academics, friends, activists, artists.
The ease and spectacle.
The trees, the green.
Getting on a cheap flight to an exotic locale.
The MRT system.
My pool, palms, and gym.
Palms.
The sense of possibility here.
Learning everyday. Connecting with new people.
Bukit Brown and my other favorite places.
**
Things I will not miss:
The heaviness.
The claustrophobia.
The conformity.
The lack of bohemia.
The rules, administration, and bureacracy.
Seeing foreign workers treated like furniture.
My shitty little room and single bed.
Not being able to cook.
MSGs and oily / salty foods.
The heat between 11 and 6pm.
This shoulder injury.

Farewell Singapura
Tuesday, 26 March 2013
I have been a bad blogger, but I suppose that is what happens when you get lost in fieldwork, travel, and other distractions.
I sit here in Singapore at my desk, careful not to upset my broken collarbone, and completely in a state of disbelief that my time here has come to an end. The fastest 7 months ever. I wish time would now slow down and let me enjoy my return to London and the rest of my life.
I will come back later to fill in some thoughts about Singapore. I promise.
